Bookings underway for INR 11,000.

Contrary to a previous report, Tata Motors have confirmed today that the Bolt will be launched on January 22, 2015. The Bolt, which is the second 'all-new' product from Tata Motors, is already available for booking online for INR 11,000.

The Bolt will launch with a petrol and diesel engine.

The premium hatchback will come with a 1.2-liter turbocharged Revotron petrol engine capable of 90 PS (88.7 bhp) and 140 Nm of torque, and a 1.3-liter diesel good for 75 PS (73.94 bhp) and 190 Nm of torque.

Both engines will be matched to a 5-speed manual transmission, though an automated manual transmission (AMT) could be offered later on. Tata is yet to disclose the ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of the Bolt though.

Top-end variants of the car will get smoked headlight clusters with projector lights, foglights, alloy wheels, multifunction steering wheel with voice recognition, a touchscreen infotainment system with 8-speakers, automatic climate control, electrically-adjustable wing mirrors, ABS and dual airbags.

The Bolt gets all the features seen on the Zest and a bit more.

The petrol variants will also get the Multi-Drive function seen on the Zest.

Dealership demo and display units of the Bolt have already started arriving at a few locations. Like the Zest, Tata is expected to aggressively price the Bolt undercutting competition like the Maruti Swift, Hyundai Elite i20 and the like.
