Breaking - Tata BOLT hatchback unveiled [Images Updated]
Tata Motors has just unveiled its new hatchback, Bolt, at an event here in New Delhi. The company has also showcased a sub-4 meter sedan derivative on the Bolt called the Zest.
According to Tata, the Bolt name represents an "attitude of winning, and staying ahead". The car was designed with inputs from the three Tata Motors design studios in Pune, Coventry (UK) and Turin (Italy). Though the car resembles the Vista in profile, Tata says the new grille with 'Humanity Line' and projector headlights clearly differentiates the Bolt from the Vista. Inside, Tata spoke about an all-new HARMAN infotainment system with a 5-inch touchscreen supporting various functions.
It supports Bluetooth, voice recognition, smartphone integration, supporting phone enabled navigation, social media integration, touch phone controlled interface and in-built HVAC controls. The Bolt will be offered with a petrol and a diesel engine. The petrol is the newly announced 1.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder Revotron motor which will produce 85 PS @ 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque between 1,750-3,000 rpm. The diesel will feature the familiar 1.3-liter Quadrajet motor outputting 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque.
The Bolt will also be displayed at the Auto Expo which starts for the trade media on February 5th. Indian sales will commence this year. Stay tuned to Indian Autos Blog for a detailed image gallery of the car.
