Tata GenX Nano sells 3000 units in first month; 70% opt for AMT - Report

A report on the Business Standard states that Tata has secured over 3,000 customers for the newly-launched GenX Nano, which went on sale in the country on May 19, 2015. While the company has already delivered 1,000 units of the small car, it is in the process of delivering another 2,000 units.

Waiting period for the Nano AMT is about 6 weeks, whereas wait time for the manual variant is only about two weeks. The publication was told by Mayank Pareek, president of the company’s Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, that over 70 percent of customers opted for the AMT variant, which is priced between INR 2.69 lakhs to INR 2.89 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.

The Nano AMT gets a 5-speed F-Tronic automated manual transmission, and returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.9 km/l. The regular variant of the Nano though, which gets a 4-speed manual transmission, is rated for 23.6 km/l.

The AMT variant of the Nano has a higher boot floor, and hence gets a smaller 94 liter boot capacity.

Cosmetic changes on the GenX Nano include smoked headlight clusters, new front and rear bumpers, a new grille and inclusion of new exterior colors. Inside, the small car is given a new 3-spoke steering wheel and revised seat fabrics. The GenX Nano also gets a functional bootlid, a first on the car, with luggage carrying capacity of 110 liters on the manual variant and 94 liters on the AMT model.
