Here are 10 things we know about the Tata Hexa -

1. Based on the Tata Aria platform

The Hexa may look new brand, however, underneath, the car is based on an evolution of the Aria's platform.

2. Design unchanged from the Geneva Motor Show display

Tata Motors first showcased the Hexa as a concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Since its showcasing, little has changed on the production-spec model. It features aggressively-styled projector headlights, new bumpers, split taillights, rugged looking body cladding and 19-inch alloy wheels.

3. Sports all-new interior

Inside, Tata Motors have replaced the bland layout of the Aria with a more car-like interior with its short-diameter three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, new instrument binnacle, rectangular AC vents, a new center console and better leather upholstery for the seats.

4. Expected in 2 interior configurations

The Tata Hexa is expected to get two interior configurations: 6- and 7-seat layouts. The former will feature captains chair layout for the second row, whereas the latter will have a conventional bench to accommodate three.

5. Engine specification

The Tata Hexa is powered by the 2.2-liter VariCOR four-cylinder diesel engine capable of 156 PS at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1,700-2,700 rpm. This is the same unit that powers the Safari Storme VariCOR 400.

6. 6-AT confirmed

Tata Motors have confirmed that the Hexa will get 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, the latter being a first on a Tata product. The 6-speed gearbox is a traditional torque-converter unit, hence expect its efficiency to be lower than the manual variant.

7. Terrain Response System

The Tata Hexa is the first Tata product to get a Terrain Response System, operated by a dial on the center console. The selector has four modes - Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough-road.

8. Tata Hexa 'TUFF' accessories to be available

Tata Motors will also introduce the Hexa 'TUFF' range of accessories which include a black finish for the alloy wheels, black finishers for the bumpers, 3D mats, a cycle carrier and black seat upholstery.

9. To launch in the coming weeks

According to reports, the Tata Hexa will launch towards the end of this month or early next month. Bookings for the SUV are yet to begin, though demo vehicles have started arriving at certain outlets. Tata Motors has also invited the media to test drive the car around the 20th of October.

10. Expected price

The Tata Hexa will rival the Mahindra XUV500 on price. Hence, expect prices to begin at around INR 12 lakhs and extend to around INR 18.5 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Mumbai.
