Based on the Kite hatchback, Tata Motors are also working on a compact sedan which will replace the Indigo eCS in the private passenger vehicle market. However, the eCS and the Indica are reported to continue for the fleet segment, even after the launches of the Kite twins.

The Kite project essentially uses a re-engineered version of the Indica's platform. According to reports, this platform has been improved for better strength and stability, though the key details remain unknown.

However, the Kite twins are reported to be powered by new petrol and diesel engines. The former is expected to be a 1.2-liter three-cylinder unit, while the latter is a 1.05-liter three-cylinder motor with its roots derived from the 1.4-liter four-cylinder unit.
