Tata Kite hatchback to launch by June 2015 - Report
To be manufactured at Tata's plant in Sanand, Gujarat.
Previous reports might have suggested a launch in late 2015, but according to Indian Cars Bikes' sources, a launch in the second quarter of this year is what Tata is looking at for the Kite hatchback (codename).
'Kite' is codename for the Indica replacement, which will also spawn a compact sedan to replace the Indigo eCS. Both these cars will be manufactured at Tata's plant in Sanand, Gujarat. The engine options for the Kite will include a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.05-litre 3-cylinder diesel. The latter makes 64 hp and 142 Nm of torque. A 5-speed gearbox will be available as standard, while an automated manual transmission (AMT) could also be offered.
A previous report suggests a Mega Pixel like front end, and wraparound taillights (in place of the tall, Christmas-tree ones on previous Indicas) could be design highlights on the Kite.
On the inside, earlier spyshots have shown rectangular AC vents, white-backlit instrument cluster, and a multi information display.

The report mentions that Tata used the previous generation Hyundai i10 as the benchmark. It also adds that the higher version of the Kite will get segment-first dual-DIN infotainment system as seen on the Zest but without the touchscreen.
Competitors: Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo, Hyundai i10
Expected price: INR 3.5-4.5 lakh, ex-showroom
Launch date: Q2 2015 (according to report)
