Tata Kite with production taillights snapped by IAB reader - Spied
Indica-based hatchback to launch by year end.
Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Kuldeep Bhosale, spotted the Tata Kite hatchback test near the company's facility in Pimpri, Maharashtra. Compared to other spyshots, the test mule here appears the most production ready thanks to the bumper, rear spoiler and most importantly the taillights.
Based on the Indica's platform, the Kite (codename) and a compact sedan based on it, will be the next volume-oriented products for Tata Motors after the Bolt and Zest. Keeping in mind evolved customer needs, the Kite twins will sport fresh yet distinct styling, well appointed interiors with good fit-and-finish, and features that are expected in this segment (an infotainment system, airbags, ABS and the like).
Reports point out that the Kite will be powered by a new range of petrol and diesel engines. The petrol motor will be a 1.2-liter unit (possibly a three-cylinder) while the diesel will be a 1.05-liter three-cylinder unit making about 64 hp and 142 Nm of torque.
These engines will be paired to 5-speed manual gearboxes and possibly even automated manual units.
