According to Brand Equity, an Economic Times Publication, the launch of the Tata Nexon AMT will take place "mid-way through the IPL". The 2018 IPL season kicked off on April 7 and will conclude on May 27, which means the Nexon AMT is likely to be launched in April-end or first week of May. Tata Nexon is the Official Partner of the Indian Premier League.

The launch of the Tata Nexon AMT is likely to take place towards the end of April or during the first week of May 2018.

The report also mentions that the launch of the Nexon AMT will be accompanied by the introduction of an "exclusive colour". This new exterior colour is likely to be the orange that the Nexon AMT made its public debut in at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. Although there was news of dealerships accepting bookings unofficially, a subsequent report revealed that the launch had been pushed to mid-May.

The Tata Nexon automatic variant will feature a 6-speed AMT gearbox mated to the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine as well as the 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engine. The turbocharged petrol engine produces 110 PS and 170 Nm of torque, while the turbocharged diesel engine develops 110 PS and 260 Nm of torque. The company is expected to offer the AMT models in only a mid-spec ‘XTA’ grade and a range-topping ‘XZA’ and 'XZA+' grades.

Launched in September last year, the Nexon has been pulling in impressive sales for Tata Motors. It helped the company in becoming the fourth largest car maker in India in terms of volume of the last fiscal year. 25,000 units of the Tata Nexon had been produced at the Ranjangaon plant as of February 28, 2018.
