The Tata Nexon is one of the first models crash tested by Global NCAP under its Safer Cars For India Campaign this year. The compact SUV has achieved an impressive 4-star rating from Global NCAP.

The Tata Nexon tested (at 64 km/h) by Global NCAP was equipped with dual-front airbags, ABS, front seatbelt pretensioners, driver seatbelt reminder and ISOFIX anchorages. ABS with EBD, dual-front airbags and seatbelt reminder for the driver are standard in the small SUV. Tata Motors does not offer side body airbags, side head airbags and driver knee airbag, though.

Global NCAP says that the Tata Nexon offers good protection to the driver and front passenger, but their knee could impact with dangerous structures behind the dashboard. The UK-based safety agency has rated the small SUV’s bodyshell integrity as stable. In adult occupant protection the B-SUV scores a 4-star rating with 13.56 points out of maximum 17.

As for the child occupant protection, Global NCAP finds the Tata Nexon an average performer and has given it a 3-star rating (25 points from maximum 49 points). Tata Motors offers ISOFIX anchorages in the two outboard rear seats as standard.

The rearward facing Child Restraint Systems (CRS) installed with ISOFIX anchorages showed good protection to the 18 months old child. The ISOFIX forwards facing CRS also provided good protection to the 3-year-old child. However, while the 18-month-old child’s chest was well protected, the 3-year-old child’s chest was rated vulnerable.
