TAI member Autospy has photographed a pre-production Tata Nexon, and one of the spy shots reveals the freestanding touchscreen infotainment system likely to be exclusive to the range-topping grade.

The freestanding 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system likely to be exclusive to the range-topping Tata Nexon grade.

The touchscreen system is slightly bigger than the ones seen in the Tata Hexa, Bolt and Zest, featuring a 6.5-inch display that is vertically mounted on top of the dashboard. Lower variants will have a 2-DIN audio system located in the same place as the touchscreen. It will run a Harman-developed software with Map My India navigation services, paired to an 8-speaker Harman audio system.

Although the exterior appears to be the base variant, featuring steel rims, black plastic door handles, the touchscreen system is most certain to be exclusive to the top-end model, which gets dual-tone body paintwork, 16-inch alloy wheels with a diamond cut finish, ceramic side finisher, rear parking sensors and camera.

Despite unveiling the Tata Nexon in production-spec form at the Auto Expo 2016, the Tata Motors is expected to launch its Ford EcoSport challenger in the second half of 2017, making it a long wait for prospective customers. The Nexon is likely to be Tata's most important product for this year, which aims to capitalise on the booming SUV segment.
