Tata Safari Storme picks up 6,000 bookings
The Tata Safari Storme emerges as a much improved SUV compared to its older sibling and that has reflected in the response the Storme has received from the customers.
The off roader started off on a successful note as it already garnered 6,000 bookings so far. The Safari Storme was launched in northern and eastern part of the country initially and now has reached Maharastra and Tamil Nadu.
Sitting on Aria's hydroformed ladder-on-frame chassis, the Safari Storme is much stiffer than the previous Safari. It also handles off road with aplomb as we found out in our test drive.
The car features a slightly updated design but there are more comprehensive improvements under the skin. The car is equipped with disc brakes all round and the four wheel drive system can be electronically shifted on the fly.
The interior also is vastly improved with better design and quality of materials. To take the game further towards the Mahindra XUV500, Tata Motors is planning to introduce a flagship variant with more equipment such as an automatic transmission which was showcased on the Aria at last year's Delhi Expo.
The Tata Safari Storme is expected to be available throughout India by February. The SUV has offered some much needed momentum to Tata Motors which has been struggling to push the sales of their premium MPV, the Aria.
