Report - Tata Sumo Grande facelift christened 'Movus'
Tata Motors is working on a revamped Sumo Grande, which according to our source, will be made to address "specific consumer segments". Prototypes of the Sumo facelift have been caught testing in Pimpri, near Tata's plant, and reveal minor cosmetic changes.
According to Motor Bash, Tata is reported to drop the 'Sumo' name altogether. Instead, the refreshed Grande will be known as the Tata Movus (read Move-Us).
The engine in the Movus will be carried over from the Grande. The motor, a 2.2-liter four-cylinder DICOR unit, produces 120 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque in the current Grande and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
In terms of styling, the Movus is expected to look similar to the Grande, though elements such as the grille and bumpers could be redesigned.
The SUV will feature an improved clutch and suspension for better drivability and service life. We also expect to see a new infotainment system on the Movus.
The Movus will be priced more than the Grande, which is currently priced at INR 8 lakhs ex-Showroom, New Delhi for the base BS 4 variant.
Motor Bash claims that the Movus will be unveiled at the Auto Expo next month.
