Tata Tiago AMT spied in Chinchwad, Pune
Reported to launch in mid-2017.
A Tata Tiago with test plates and cammo-wrapped bumpers was photographed by IAB reader, Hrishikesh Dixit. A quick peak of the prototype's interior reveals an AMT shifter, which is yet to find its way into the production-spec Tiago.
The Tiago AMT is reported to launch in mid-2017. The unit is likely a 5-speed AMT that is rumoured to be exclusive to the 1.2L petrol option, while the 1.05 diesel will continue with the 5-speed manual. The 1.2L petrol produces 85 PS and 114 Nm of torque. We expect the fuel efficiency to be more or less similar to the petrol manual's 23.84 km/L figure.
In case you're wondering, the floor console trim of the Tiago test mule is missing, hence why the AMT shifter is exposed. Like the Maruti Celerio AMT, it is a regular shifter with R, N, D modes and option to manually shift gears.

When launched, the Tiago AMT will compete against the Maruti Celerio AMT and Hyundai Grand i10 AT. Even the less-powerful-but-lighter Renault Kwid 1.0 AMT can be considered as competition.
