Tata Motors will soon introduce a performance version of the Tiago. To be called as the Tata Tiago JTP, the new model was recently spotted testing sans camouflage by Team-BHP. The new model will launch during this year's festive season and is expected to cost a lot more hot hatchbacks like the Maruti Baleno RS and the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI.

The Tata Tiago JTP made its public debut at the Auto Expo 2018 in February this year.

The test mule of the Tata Tiago JTP that has been recently spotted features a bright red base paint along with many blacked-out bits. The front bumper features a large air dam along with reworked foglamp enclosures. The smoked-finish on the headlights, along with a gloss black front grille, infuse some more sportiness with the front facade. The side profile features sporty dual-tone alloy wheels, bold side skirts, and black-out ORVM caps. The rear is characterized by a large spoiler, a new bumper with a faux-diffuser, and twin exhaust tips. The roof and the spoiler have been painted in black.

On the inside, the Tata Tiago JTP will carry an all-black colour theme with red garnish sprinkled around the air-con vents. The black upholstery will feature a red stitching. Furthermore, the car will offer sporty aluminium pedals. The new model is likely to be available with the same 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that is on offer on the Tiago NRG. It will come paired to a Harman-sourced eight-speaker audio unit.

Powering the Tata Tiago JTP will be the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that propels the Nexon. For the performance-oriented Tiago, however, the engine will receive a performance air intake and a less restrictive exhaust. For the Maruti Vitara Brezza-rival, this engine outputs a maximum power of 110 PS and a peak torque of 150 Nm. In comparison, the regular Tiago's petrol motor offers only 85 pS and 114 Nm. The JTP-spec model will boast a performance-tuned 5-speed manual transmission. It will also benefit from lowered springs and 15-inch alloy wheels, both of which should aid handling.

The Tata Tiago JTP will be produced at the company's manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat.

The Tata Tiago JTP is expected to cost approximately INR 7 lakhs (ex-showroom). This will undercut the Baleno RS (INR 8.47 lakhs, ex-showroom, New Delhi) by a significant margin.
