Report - Tata Zest rolls out of Tata-Fiat's Ranjangaon plant ahead of launch next month
Tata has started production of its upcoming Zest compact sedan at the Tata-Fiat joint venture plant located in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. In the images seen here, the first batch of cars are seen rolling down the assembly line. The car has its market launch next month.
Based on the Manza's underpinnings, the Zest is the first of Tata's 'new' cars, and it will be followed by the Bolt hatchback. The Zest will be offered with a choice of two engines. The diesel engine is the familiar 1.3-liter Fiat-sourced Multijet engine producing 90 PS (88.73 bhp) and 200 Nm of torque. It will come with a 5-speed manual or a segment-first 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).
The petrol motor powering the Zest is Tata's new 1.2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged Revotron engine making 90 PS (88.73 bhp) and 140 Nm of torque. The petrol Zest will be available with a 5-speed manual only.
Tata has already started the pre-launch bookings for the Zest for INR 21,000. Reports say that the car will come with a 6-year warranty.
