Tata Zica-based compact sedan (Indigo eCS replacement) - IAB Rendering

Expected to launch in the first half of 2016.

Based on the recently-revealed Tata Zica, Indian Autos Blog's digital artist, Shoeb R Kalania, has created a mockup of the Zica-based compact sedan, which is expected to launch in the first half of next year.

The Tata Zica-based sedan is expected to launch in the first half of next year.

The Zica compact sedan, much like its hatchback sibling, will be powered by the new three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The 1.05-liter Revotorq unit, which is essentially a downsized version of the 1.4-liter four-cylinder unit, develops 70 PS and 140 Nm of torque. The all-new all-aluminium 1.2-liter Revotron petrol engine churns 85 PS and 114 Nm of torque, and additionally benefits from variable valve timing technology.

Both engines are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, though reports suggest that an automated manual transmission (AMT) will find its place on the Zica. Also, both engines benefit from Tata's Multi-Drive feature, which lets the driver choose between two driving modes: Eco and City.

Interior will be largely identical to the Tata Zica. It is likely to feature a different color combination.

Where the Zica hatchback targets the like of the Hyundai i10, Maruti Celerio and the Chevrolet Beat, the compact sedan will start an all-new segment as a sub-Zest offering, though it will replace the Indigo eCS in the private passenger vehicles segment.

The Zica twins will be manufactured at Tata Motor's Sanand plant in Gujarat. The hatchback is expected to have its market launch in the first week of January 2016.
