Comparo - Yamaha FZ FI V2.0 vs Honda CB Trigger vs TVS Apache RTR160 vs Bajaj Pulsar 150 vs Hero Xtreme
The revamped Yamaha FZ-S FI V2.0 and the Yamaha FZ FI V2.0 twins were just launched. Here is how the duo compare against the rivals in terms of specifications. The competition would come from the Honda CB Trigger, Bajaj Pulsar 150, TVS Apache RTR160 and the Hero Xtreme.
The Yamaha twins have identical specifications and interestingly the company has reduced the displacement, power and torque despite the bikes being the only models to offer FI in their class. The FZ FI V2.0 series is powered by a 149 cc air cooled fuel injected motor which puts out 13.1 PS and 12.8 Nm of torque. The TVS Apache RTR160 develops the highest power among the competition with 15.5 PS on tap and not surprisingly, it's also the bike with highest torque (13.1 Nm) in the segment.
All of these motorcycles employ a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. The telescopic fork is the norm for the front suspension and so is a front disc brake. While the FZ FI V2.0 series and the CB Trigger use rear monosuspension, the rest employ traditional dual shock absorbers with gas chambers. The CB Trigger, Xtreme and Apache RTR160 offer an optional rear disc brake while the rest are content with a drum brake.
In terms of dimensions, the Apache RTR160 is the longest in the segment at 2,085 mm while the new FZ series is the shortest at just 1,990 mm. However, the FZ FI V2.0 series has the longest wheelbase in its class at 1,330 mm while the Apache RTR160 has the shortest at 1,300 mm. The FZ FI V2.0 is also the lightest bike, tipping the scale at 132 kg and the Hero Xtreme finishes as the heaviest vehicle among the competition at 146 kg.
Starting at INR 76,250, the new FZ series is the most expensive of the lot while the CB Trigger which retails at INR 65,633 is the most affordable bike in the segment.
