2017 Yamaha R3 showcased at BIMS 2017

The Yamaha R3 competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 300.

The 2017 Yamaha R3 has been showcased at the Bangkok International Motor Show. The bike gets several cosmetic updates. Mechanically the motorcycle is identical to the MY2016 Yamaha R3.

The 2017 Yamaha R3 is suspended over standard 41 mm telescopic forks up front and a monoshock in the rear with adjustable preload, both sourced from KYB. Brakes include a 298 mm disc in the front and a 220 mm unit in the rear. The bike continues to offer the safety net of ABS.

The 2017 Yamaha R3 tips the scales at 170 kg and has a 160 mm ground clearance. The seat height is an approachable 780 mm, and the fuel tank can store 14 litres of petrol. The model in Thailand can run on Ethanol 20 (E-20) fuel.

The Yamaha R3 is powered by a 321 cc in-line twin cylinder, liquid-cooled mill coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 42 PS of maximum power at 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm of peak torque at 9,000 rpm.

The bike now gets new colour options and graphics which trace their origins back to the 2017 Yamaha R6. These include Matte Black, Team Yamaha Blue and Vivid White.

The 2017 Yamaha R3 in Thailand has is priced at THB 188,000 which is a bump of THB 3,000.
