IAB Report - Philippines International Motor Show starts tomorrow with 17 exhibitors

Regional show will see new car showcases and launches. 

Philippines's largest automobile show, the Philippines International Motor Show (PIMS), will open its doors tomorrow at the World Trade Center in Manila, Philippines. The four-day long show is organized by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), and will see participation from 17 brands.

The regional show will see many new car launches and showcases, some of which are listed below.

1. Honda

Honda Brio sedan South Africa

Honda will launch the Brio and Brio Amaze at the show, thus entering the entry level economy segment in Philippines. The Brio twins are powered by a larger 1.3-liter i-VTEC engine and get a CVT gearbox.

2. Nissan

Nissan will launch the new generation X-Trail in Philippines tomorrow. The new X-Trail, which had its premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, gets Nissan's new design language as well as a lighter platform.

3. BMW

BMW X4 at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show front

The refreshed X3, which went on sale in India last month, will launch at the PIMS tomorrow. With a new front fascia and a mildly updated interior, the SUV will put up a better fight with its rivals, the Q5 and M Class. The new X4 will mark its local premiere at the show as well.

4. Toyota and Lexus

The highlight of Toyota's stall will be the FUN VII concept, which has an exterior made of an LCD screen. The Japanese carmaker's premium arm, Lexus, will display its NX crossover which went on sale in Philippines earlier this month.

5. Suzuki

Suzuki Ertiga South Africa

Suzuki will not have any all-new products at the show. The brand will showcase the Ertiga and Swift 1.2 however, though these cars are available on the local market, and are imported from India.

6. Mitsubishi

The GR-HEV, which was shown at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, will be displayed at PIMS. The Pajero facelift too will be seen at the carmaker's stall.
